The Disenchanted- TANK Editorial

And so, I apologise yet again for another lengthy hiatus from posting!! I have been rather busy though with the end of term, and entertaining friends visitng the lovely Borders for two weekends in a row there. Ooh and I started a marketing internship with the gorgeous knitwear company ,EribĂ© .

And after some very late nights and very little photoshop tweaking ( due to the amazing photographer and model!), I finally handed in my styling project!
(note to self - don't leave everything to the last minute again blah blah blah..)
It is a proposed editorial for TANK magazine in which I had to choose a label/designer and restyle or rebrand them in a totally different way. I chose luxury fairisle knitwear label Eribe Knitwear and felt this grungy theme and style story would be perfect in TANK. The shoot itself took us less than  three hours, was a blast and we finished it off with a nice pint of cider- bishbashbosh!

Vintage Wunderbar - Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair

I've been on a lazy leave of absence from this to say the least but it's just been one of those months- deadlines, work, hangovers... mostly the ol' hangover days that have been putting a spanner in the works. A sniff of beer garden weather here in Scotland and we're all running down to the pub with our "Super Sunday" excuses! It's head down now for the next two weeks and I'm pretty much finished 3rd year WOOP WOOP! The last big hurdle was a knitwear shoot, proposed spread for TANK magazine. It was great craic and we wrapped the afternoon up with a round of well deserved ciders :)  As soon as I get the pictures back and make them presentable, I'll post a few of my faves up :)
On a catch-up note, I was at Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair in Edinburgh last weekend and it was a feast for the eyes, total heaven for anyone who can't get enough of all things fooshty, fabulous and vintage! I didn't get as much as I did last year but there was some amazing stuff with an abundance of prints, leather, beading and polyester and enough peplums and Kelly tote handbags to swing a cat at!

Knitwear to cheer the soul :)

 A plethora of peplums!
 Vurry vibrant 60's prints'n'patterns

Twin Set of my dreams!

DROOOL...that is all!

 I want them ALL!!

The Royal Tenenbaums - crafty needlework lust

If you haven't already seen the movie you're missing oot! The Royal Tenenbaums is one of my favourite movies. I love the voice over, I love the cast, I love the music, I love the visuals, the clothes, and Gwyneth Paltrow as Margot Tenenbaum is just effortlessly, miserably the coolest chain-smoking chick in a fur coat EVER! Wes Anderson's films are just a complete feast for the , Fantastic Mr. Fox is another great one.
Aaanyway, point is, I'm using this movie as inspiration for a project and while trawling Google image I came across these amazing pieces, they're so pretty! They're made by an artist that goes by the name Lucky Jackson who set a goal to make something every day of the year- no small feat!

London Fashion Week - A Portrait

French Illustrator, Damien Cuypers gives us a refreshing spin on all those "street style" shots of  London Fashion Week fashionistas that have been saturating the web in the last week or so.
He captures them as they race from show to show, capturing their personality so well with speedy and suggestive skill and LOTS of colour. It's the simple crayon style mark-making and array of colours that give them a child like quality, albeit a child with highly developed artistic vision!

  ....guess who?

For the Frieze Art Fair last year, he was asked to churn out some super fast two-minute sketches of some of the big names gracing the week's activities- caricature at its best!

 Tracey Emin

 Jay Jopling

 Grayson Perry

...and then a bit of Terry Richardson for good measure!
Check out his website- www.damienflorebertcuypers.com , some really amazing work!

On a completely unrelated note....
Lent update.... quite easy to omit chocolate, pizza and crisps from my shopping but i still need a munchie "fix"- have been pigging out on pastries and such instead, sleepovers and smoking does not help this. Ok...so some crisps may have fallen into my mouth on Sunday(sea salt & black pepper mmmm) but I'm just going to pretend that never happened and carry on!

Thou Shalt Not Eat Chocolate...

Diet...fast...Christian observance...torture - whatever you want to call it, Lent is upon us!
I remember you used to always be told, " Lent is not about what you give up, but what you TAKE up!"  Like praying or being nice to your little brother... or maybe start smoking full time to replace the CHOCOLATE, PIZZA and CRISPS :( What better way to mark the begginning of 40 days and 40 nights of self denial than with a very over indulgant Last Supper! And yes, yes I did feel a bit sick after I ate it all!

Of course you gotta have your Pancake Tuesday as well, compliments of my flat mate Kirsty. UHT spray cream is still AWESOME!

So I shall try my very hardest to give up these three things which feature highly on my shopping list, not looking forward to it, especially with my flatmate asking how am I to last through uni deadline season without my comfort food... However, there is one day of respite- St.Patrick's Day ♣ ♣ ♣
