Saturday Style File à la Bibliothèque

Yey it's cold enough to wear my fur coat! It didn't get much of an airing this winter so these moments are precious! I lurv lurv lurv it, even more so because it was a bargain at £15! I'm pretty sure it's rabbit..? All I know is it feels rather lovely!
I bought it at Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair in Edinburgh last year. They had so many stalls with the most amazing clothes, jewellery, vintage lace and leather and all of it was seriously cheap- I literally did not know where to look first and so I was abandoned by my mates because I take forever to look through clothes!

My mate Steph took these shots for me on our way out of the library after a semi-productive day - check us being all studious and sheeet on a Saturday! I quite like the backdrop and colours of the books so may do a few more style shots here again!

Love these little chelsea style boots so much, I got a second pair of them in the Jan Sales :)

nothing like a bit of tack-tastic sequins and gems to brighten up your day!

I've also entered into COMPANY magazine's River Island Casting Call competition which has the winners starring in their "real girls" May issue and contribute to the features! This is my favourite mag and the prizes are well gid so please click on the link below and vote for moi, I'd be ever so grateful for your support !

WINNING in Liverpool and not a Scouse brow in Sight!

I'm only now beginning to feel normal after an epic road trip down to Liverpool last weekend. One of the highlights was turning up at my mate's front door and surprising the BEJESUS out of her!! Was sooo good to see all the Ibiza folk again and do all the touristy Beatles stuff... and try not to fall asleep into your pint in Weatherspoons- it's a tough 'ol life!

spot of live music and a pint to break up the day at
The Cavern Club!

Zara and I stroking the beautiful George Harrison

This was taken at silly o' clock in the morning when everyones' marbles were all over the floor- wouldn't have it any other way!

Absolutely love Liverpool - cheap drinks, great clubs, amazing music - roll on road trip the third I say :)

Hot Off The Press...kinda!

It's a little bit late in the delivery but I did say back yonder in November that I'd post more pictures from a shoot I styled for the university magazine. Well here it is, better late then never which is becoming a bit of a habit of mine!

Big thank you to Zoe McArthur, a whizz with the 'ol camera!

Pease check out the magazine- The Gala Vant, which is online for now- a fantastic first effort from students and the union VP, Katie Barr. Have a wee read of my article - "Lastminute.com"  as well, slightly dated now that it's 2012 but still!

Touch Me Touch Me Touch Screen!

So that's the first week back to uni done - pretty painless and I'm quite excited about some of the briefs we've gotten ( a definite first there!). It being a new year and all, I thought I'd take another "life- changing" grown up step, get with the times and get a contract phone! I have finally succumbed to the pressure and am now just another smart phone sheep - but I have to say, it's a beaut!

I used to tell myself- all I need my phone to do is text and call and besides, I hate predictive text etc etc. But after abstaining for as long as possible I realised it was time I bite the shiny, white, sexy touchscreen bullet! I don't have a clue how to use half of the apps and widgets right now..but hopefully I'll  be sharing "data" left, right and centre in no time!

The one thing I am afraid of doing (apart from breaking and losing the bloody thing) is constantly checking Facebook every two minutes and jumping for my phone every time I hear a notification alert- I'm bad enough as it is on my laptop! So I'm going to try to hold out for as long as possible setting up Facebook on my phone...wonder how long I last!

Taking Out The Facebook Trash- Happy New Year!

So it's back to Gala where I am immersed in that unmistakable accent once more. And it's back to school with a very jammy timetable of less than two full days a week!

With regards to New Years Resolutions...I have yet to really think of mine, although I have put one into effect- taking out the Facebook trash! This is a "cull" if you will, of people, pages and groups that I have no interest in or who aren't immediate friends or family ( immediate-ish anyway!). I'm trying to be ruthless but it can be a delicate process!

Another indicator of "do I, don't I?" is basically if peoples' news feed makes you feel like this >>
then get rid!

So what do we have to look forward to in 2012? Well there's the obvious predicted Apocolypse but that's not until December so we can just put that on the back burner for now. Summer is what everyone seems to be talking about already. It's not even mid January and already Next is shoving news of their S/S'12 collection in my face on the way to uni! It's almost as bad as seeing Christmas decorations alongside Halloween costumes. Give us bloody time to get rid of the festive chub before you start with cries of the dare-to-bare midriff trend and high waisted hotpants!
But I definitely cannot wait for warmer weather and the promise of sunshine after 5pm, already I can see the countdown for Ibiza has begun on Facebook...rougly 135 days ;)

The 12 Ensembles continued...

My "Betty Draper" pants!
I'm calling these my Betty Draper pants, anyone who watches MadMen (amazing!) will be familiar with the gorgeous Capri pants she wears..all I'm missing from my outfits is a blonde set do and a cigarette oh, and the kitchen sink! I've been looking for a pair that actually fits for ages - it's so hard to find a pair that don't pouch on the crotch or give you unsightly camel toe which is just a crime against fashion and generally an offence to the eyes!
What makes them an even better find is that I got them in the Sales - there's nowt better than a bargain!

(I'm classing these all as outfit #7)

Would love access to the wardrobe on that show!

The ONLY Time Child Labour is Acceptable...

...is when it's carried out by your little sister!
The result of said child labour is a gorgeous big crochet blanket that will be coming back with me to Scotland. She learnt the skill in school and talented wee sponge that she is, she was a dab hand at it in no time. It did take her a little while to finish as she had to take a few breaks...her "fingers were hurting"- a clear lack of sweatshop conditions, I kept reminding her on Skype to "keep the stitches tight!" (quality control).

Christopher Kane - eat your heart out!

I have to say though the only thing I like about Kane's Fall'11 collection is the colour scheme, certainly not the liquid filled, plastic inserts(really don't get them)! They're reminiscent of lava lamps, so married with crochet granny squares the pieces are very different yes, but tacky factor 10!?

Chewin' the Christmas Fat

What a very relaxed and lengthy Christmas that was in lovely Leitrim! It came with all the usual trimmings...  boozy nights out, serious over-indulgence- if I never see another Pringle it will be too soon, plenty of giving and receiving ( of gifts people, gifts!) and of course the traditional stab at January Sales in Derry! There was also cosy family time a plenty with the standard rubbish Christmas TV- by the way how many times was the first HarryPotter movie on- overkill!!

I was however without internet access for the majority of Christmas and while severing that mental "bond" with Facebook was incredibly easy, my blog has been somewhat neglected. Christmas is now over, yes but I'm still on my holidays goddammit so I'll continue on with my "12 Ensembles of Christmas"! It was more difficult than I had anticipated to photograph 12 outfits. This is due to me spending a significant amount of time indoors and so there was little need for me to actually get dressed! I generally lazed about in slipper socks and pyjamas...sometimes showering midday only to get changed back into them- sure isn't that what the festive season is for!
